Leading high-tech companies that contribute to strengthening Germany as a centre of innovation will present themselves at the Business Day of Innovation. LUCRESTA Clean Energy GmbH and CAPHENIA GmbH are driving the transformation to a sustainable energy supply with their patented technologies.
Prof Dr Frank Riemenschneider-Greif: ‘The combination of our two plants and the technology will enable the first scalable project to produce CO₂-climate-neutral fuels from local residues. An integrated plant will produce up to 50 million litres per year of renewable fuels such as SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuels) or e-diesel.’
Dr Mark Misselhorn: ‘The partnership with LUCRESTA is a real breakthrough for CAPHENIA. The enormous demand for biogas requires innovative solutions to scale up quickly and develop new raw materials for biomethane production. Our partnership with LUCRESTA is a game changer in this regard.’
CAPHENIA utilises PBtL (Power-and-Biogas-to-Liquid) technology to convert renewable energy into synthetic fuels. The process uses renewable electricity, biomethane and CO₂ to produce universally applicable fuels and requires six times less electricity than conventional processes. This promotes energy security and reduces CO₂ emissions.
LUCRESTA supplies the necessary raw materials (biomethane and CO₂) and increases biogas production by up to 60 per cent. The LUCRESTA Group has also launched a research collaboration that utilises algae for biomethane production. This cooperation demonstrates the endeavour to contribute to Europe’s energy independence.
The partnership between LUCRESTA and CAPHENIA shows how German companies are using sustainable technologies to provide impetus for a future-proof climate policy.
